These two stories explained two different ways of how the beginning of life was created. One is told by the Iroquois tribe culture and the other by the Pima tribe culture. They both settled by the many rivers along the south states. These stories were told by men who knew their specific tribe very well and understood the legends and myths that their tribe carried on how life began.
To start off with, both stories showed logos by being informmation passed down from generation to generation so that their culture and beliefs would always be honored and remembered. The stories explained about the darkness the both worlds endured before someone came along and made the sun, moon, and stars. This is probably said to show that when the world first began it was made out to be like a blank canvases waiting to be painted in any way shape or form. Both stories mentioned the view of pathos by showing that making the sun and stars was to brighten up the darkness and protect from evil. Both stories also mention the creation of human beings. With showing the making of male and female, it also explain how they destroy and changed the original plan that the creator first made. Even though the stories showed different solu
tions it basically stood for good vs. bad. The
two stories to me really didn't have much in commonbesides the making of the Earthly items. Both texts had a way of thinking that the beginning of time somehow started mythically and not by nature. Supernatural creatures controlled everything that happened and if it didn't go correct then they could simply change the way of life. Along with these few similarities there are also many differences in these two stories.
The Iroquois culture believed the earth began with a woman who concieved spiritually with twins. To me this story line follows something like a biblical scripture. They believed in the theory of pathos that came down to good vs. evil. As everyone knows it is a commonly used phrase even back in the eighteenth century. It is the logos that everyone and mythically everything has to be either one of the two nothing more nothing less. It is known that the evil spirit is lower level and the kind spirited people are on a higher level. This story stands out to me because even though these twins came from the same place they were totally opposite. This means you can be whatever and whoever you want to no matter what the circumstances may be. It shows that you should be true to yourself no matter where you might end up in life. I also like this story because it lets the reader understand that good always triumphs over bad at the end. It shows you that just a little effort will go along way. It also shows that one person can definately help change something.
The next text was by the Pima is also a biblical type of story. The story starts where the Earth didn't even exist because nothing was created until the doctor of the earth created the new world and all the contents that went along. The doctor was a creator of the universe because not only did he make the moon and sun but also the ants that were on the bush. He could be looked at as spiritual god since he created both the little and big things for the new world. He also had the ability to destroy life as well as create life. The story told the logos of where the sun was to be placed followed the real information since the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. He also supported that the more people in the world the more problems which is a very true statment. With some parts of the story you can understand even in our day how things can get out of hand. Somehow it ties into the modern day life of confusion and evil of the world. With cleaning the Earth from all the negative things that were taking place the doctor made the sky fall but he left before it took place. That makes me think of how many big name people who are in charge somehow sems to fall through
